Continental
is the
award-winning in-flight magazine for Continental Airlines and their
successful, discerning travelers. Continental is also
distributed in the seatbacks of all Continental Express and Continental
Connection carriers: Cape Air, Chantauqua, Colgan Air, CommutAir,
Continental Micronesia, ExpressJet and Gulfstream International
Airlines. Continental Airlines is now a member of the Star Alliance.
It has the highest HHI of any U.S. carrier; won a variety of awards for
9 consecutive years as Best Worldwide Airline at the 2007
Northern Ireland Travel & Tourism awards; Airline of the Year by
OAG; World’s Top Airline by Fortune magazine; Best
Executive/Business Class; No. 1 Best Airline – North
America by UK’s Skytrax Research; and Best Airline in Latin
Trade Magazine’s Best of Latin America readers choice poll. The
magazine appeals first to the traveler on business who appreciates the
time away from the office and the opportunity to think creatively and,
secondly, to the discerning leisure traveler planning an escape.
Continental’s unique blend of
editorial caters to the diverse interests of the frequent flying public
and our new design now focuses on luxury products. There are over
420,000 issues printed monthly reaching over 2.4 million passengers. The
median passenger is a married male (60%), 49 years old who is a
professional/managerial, spending 24 hotel nights per year, and has a
household income of $162,226.
Continental flies to more
international destinations than any other U.S. airline, is the
world’s 4th largest airline and is the no. 1 airline in New York,
Newark, Houston, Cleveland and Guam. It has more flights from the U.S.
to Mexico, Central America, the United Kingdom and Japan than any U.S.
carrier. Internationally, Continental magazine has the
highest concentration of upscale travelers to Europe, Latin America, the
Caribbean and Mexico than any other inflight or business magazine.

DIGITAL
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Continental is printed using a CTP (Computer-To-Plate) workflow. Therefore,
we ask that you submit your ads in digital format.
Preferred Software:
InDesign CS document (include all images and font), PDF or PDF/X 1-a (using
the "PressOptimized" job option in Acrobat Distiller
4.0+). We can only accept PDF files created using Acrobat Distiller. Use
of Acrobat Distiller is required to ensure that all fonts are embedded
properly and images remain CMYK (and / or grayscale) without conversion
to RGB.
Hard Copy Proofs: A hard copy proof
matching your supplied files is required to check against the final
output before going to print. If no proof is supplied, the Pohly Company will not be
responsible for type re-flow or other issues that could happen during
the file transfer process on native file applications. Color
critical ads require a contract color proof meeting SWOP standards, in
order to achieve desired color reproduction on press.
Color: All four-color ads should be designed using the CMYK process. Spot colors should be
designed as CMYK match colors not solid color ink.
Graphics: Save all images in TIFF or EPS formats in CMYK or
grayscale colorspaces. All scanned images should be at 300 dpi and placed at
100%.
Be sure to include all fonts and images contained in your
files (including fonts embedded in EPS files).
FTP
Instructions: Using
an FTP application (like Fetch)
Host: mail.pohlyco.com
User: ftpco
Password: friendly1
This will give you access to the Continental folder. Include issue
date, advertiser name and contact information. A hard copy proof
must be provided within 24 hours.
